Mini Session Date announced : Minneapolis Portrait Photography

The moment you've all been waiting for is finally here!

The first ever mini session date is...

I know you've got questions. I've got answers! (See? We already make a great team!)

Who can book a mini session?
Anyone and everyone! Even my pup Farley wants in on the action! These shorter sessions are perfect for fun headshots, quick senior portraits, a first anniversary, better-than-beginning-of-the-school-year-sponsored photos and especially little kiddos. If you've got an idea, send it my way - I'd love to work with you!

Why only 30 minutes? That doesn't feel like nearly enough time!
It only takes a second to capture a terrific image - of course we'll do the usual posey images you'll want to frame and send to Aunt Sue for Christmas, but we'll incorporate some playtime as well. I love those in-between moments when you're playing with your kids, laughing at my ridiculously awful jokes or just plain having a blast.

Why a limit on the number of people? Does this mean my seven year old has to stay home? 
No way! The reason for the limit is that physical shooting square footage at the studio space is limited. Two adults and two kids fit comfortably, but bringing Grandma and Grandpa might be a bit cramped. If you're looking for a larger family portrait, consider booking a full sized session for $200 for an hour. However, if there are two adults and three small kiddos, we can make that work. YAY! I can't wait to meet you! We're going to have so much fun together!
First, email me sydnee@sydneebickett.com and I'll let you know what times are available. It's first come, first serve. Session times are every hour on the hour from 10 am to 5 pm (i.e. 10am, 11am, 12pm, etc). I'll send you a note as soon as your session fee is paid with all the info you'll need. Then just meet me at the studio on September 8th with your best smiles and cutest outfits!

I'm not sure what to wear! Can you help?
OF COURSE! Styling is one of my favorite activities of all time (no joke). Once your session is booked and paid for, we can brainstorm ideas of what to wear and any props to bring. I'll have limited props available to all clients who book a mini session - but I'd love to see what you have to bring too!

What's the fine print?
Due to the shorter nature and intense popularity of these sessions, all session fees are nonrefundable.

PS. Remember those horribly awkward school photos? September 8th is the perfect time to get EVEN BETTER images of your kids in all their awesome glory!

Emily: Minneapolis Senior Portrait Photography

What do you get when you mix a love for nature, music and lots of laughter? PLUS a true, honest passion for life? EMILY!

Last fall, I had the privilege of meeting Emily and her Mom for Emily's senior portrait session. We spent a gorgeous windy day together, playing in the leaves, jumping, striking a pose here and there and just letting Emily be her wonderful fabulous self.

It was such an honor to meet Emily - she has such an abundant passion for life, for people and for Haiti. Emily was a "youth" in my friend Marie's church and was able to travel to Haiti with her last year on a mission trip. When I asked Emily about the black bracelet on her wrist, she clutched it and said with a beaming smile, "I haven't taken it off since I was in Haiti and I don't ever plan on it!" It reminds her of that journey and keeps her mindful of how much more needs to be done to help. There is not a doubt in my mind this girl will change the world and make it a better place for people in Haiti and here at home.

A trip in the leaves, screeching in an alleyway and pretending to conduct a musical masterpiece - here's a glimpse into an afternoon with Miss Emily :)

Becka: Minneapolis Senior Portrait Photography

You know you're getting old(er) when you're photographing the senior photos of a young lady you knew as an 8 year old. Becka and I attended the same elementary/middle school, she went to my high school (long after I had graduated) and now we attend the same church - this world of ours really is pretty small :)

Needless to say, I've had the chance to watch Becka grow from a little girl to a lovely young lady, about to graduate from high school and go off into the world to show everyone else how fabulous we all know she is! YAY! The world literally is at her fingertips and I can't wait to see what she makes of it. And when I say she is talented, I mean shout-from-the-rooftops talented. She sings in about a dozen choirs, she plays that many instruments and oh my word, she hits those high notes in our church choir and makes it look effortless.

I got to know Becka a little more a couple years ago on our church trip to New Orleans - and I was even more impressed. She carries herself so confidently and maturely - To say I am blessed to know her lovely and talented self is an understatement.

Anna, part two: Minneapolis Senior Portrait Photography

September 11th, 2011 found me in New Ulm, Minnesota surrounded by family and I wouldn't have had it any other way. Sure, we reminisced about where we were when our country changed forever, but actually, we spent more time smiling and cherishing the time we spent just being together. And actually, I think that's the best way we could have remembered.

I promised you a part two of this lovely lady's senior photos and here they are! Anna is so fabulous - I know I've said it before and you're probably tired of hearing/reading me say it, but it's true. She's such a bright light in her family and seriously, this girl is going places. I am so honored to document this time in her life and more honored to call her my cousin :)

And the volleyball photos? No photoshop work there, folks. It's all Anna. She IS the captain of her high school team, after all!

Anna: Minneapolis Senior Portrait Photographer

When Anna did some modeling for my senior portfolio a few years back, I was amazed from the first shot at how natural she is in front of a camera. Even when it was negative 30 degrees and I made her pretend to love hosting a tea party in the woods and kissing a ceramic frog, she was a beauty.

And now, two years later, she's about to begin her senior year of high school and the world is her stage. Literally and figuratively. She's an amazing actress, dancer, volleyball star, and most importantly, the most genuine girl you'll ever meet. This girl's going places, whether it's big city or small town, she will knock the socks off whoever she meets and whatever she ends up doing.

[I'm not saying all this just because she's my cousin, but seriously, this girl is one in a million. Well, a few in a million because she has an equally-awesome brother and sister and set of parents that will rock your world. But yeah, she's my cousin. How can you tell? Definitely not from our similarities in height or athletic ability but in that hilarious way we all laugh, throwing our heads back and smiling so big our eyes do this disappearing act that everyone marvels at :)]

Anna... I could go on for days about how adorable, beautiful, drop-dead gorgeous, talented, stunning, amazing, gifted and sweet this girl is, but I'll let the photos do the talking.

Can't wait to do this again in a couple months!

Brooke: Minneapolis Senior Portrait Photography

I met the Webber girls about four years ago when we started attending the same church and they were instantly welcoming. They, along with their parents, introduced us to fellow members and encouraged us to "join the family." Over the last few years, I've come to realize the Webbers have it all: they've got an all-star athlete, a theater queen and a really tough little sister in the family! Most importantly, these girls all have a servant's heart and are always willing to put others before themselves.

Since that time, I've photographed Brianna, Brittany and now Brooke for their senior portraits. There's no denying these girls are sisters but throughout the years, I've been honored to see their own personalities shine. Being the youngest, Brooke is by nature the toughest and as her mother loves to say, the sassiest :) She's an awesome athlete and a true beauty!

I've had the privilege of being involved in the senior high youth group at church and traveled to New Orleans last summer for the National Youth Gathering -- on that trip, I saw a transformation in Brooke, growing from a little sister to a confident, young lady :) Oh, and she's really really funny :)

We did these photos just in time - Brooke is about to cut off all that beautiful hair and donate it to Locks of Love!! What an awesome kickoff to her senior year - one where she'll spread her wings and instead of attending conventional high school, she's off to college for PSEO classes. After that, the sky's the limit, whether she decides to become a police officer or not :) You go girl!
