Mini Session Date announced : Minneapolis Portrait Photography

The moment you've all been waiting for is finally here!

The first ever mini session date is...

I know you've got questions. I've got answers! (See? We already make a great team!)

Who can book a mini session?
Anyone and everyone! Even my pup Farley wants in on the action! These shorter sessions are perfect for fun headshots, quick senior portraits, a first anniversary, better-than-beginning-of-the-school-year-sponsored photos and especially little kiddos. If you've got an idea, send it my way - I'd love to work with you!

Why only 30 minutes? That doesn't feel like nearly enough time!
It only takes a second to capture a terrific image - of course we'll do the usual posey images you'll want to frame and send to Aunt Sue for Christmas, but we'll incorporate some playtime as well. I love those in-between moments when you're playing with your kids, laughing at my ridiculously awful jokes or just plain having a blast.

Why a limit on the number of people? Does this mean my seven year old has to stay home? 
No way! The reason for the limit is that physical shooting square footage at the studio space is limited. Two adults and two kids fit comfortably, but bringing Grandma and Grandpa might be a bit cramped. If you're looking for a larger family portrait, consider booking a full sized session for $200 for an hour. However, if there are two adults and three small kiddos, we can make that work. We're in! What next?
YAY! I can't wait to meet you! We're going to have so much fun together!
First, email me sydnee@sydneebickett.com and I'll let you know what times are available. It's first come, first serve. Session times are every hour on the hour from 10 am to 5 pm (i.e. 10am, 11am, 12pm, etc). I'll send you a note as soon as your session fee is paid with all the info you'll need. Then just meet me at the studio on September 8th with your best smiles and cutest outfits!

I'm not sure what to wear! Can you help?
OF COURSE! Styling is one of my favorite activities of all time (no joke). Once your session is booked and paid for, we can brainstorm ideas of what to wear and any props to bring. I'll have limited props available to all clients who book a mini session - but I'd love to see what you have to bring too!

What's the fine print?
Due to the shorter nature and intense popularity of these sessions, all session fees are nonrefundable.

PS. Remember those horribly awkward school photos? September 8th is the perfect time to get EVEN BETTER images of your kids in all their awesome glory!

Happy First Year, Julian! : Minneapolis Portrait Photography

I first met Julian when he was still in his dear Mama's belly - and after a wild ride of a birth where that Mama was oh-so-brave, little Julian made his grand entrance into the world. And frankly, this family (and me!) haven't been the same since. Big sis Rowan was convinced she was getting a brother and good thing too, because these kiddos are attached at the hip. I love spending time with this family - filled with love, compassion and always teaching about kindness and imagination.

It's been an honor and a privilege to watch them grow - and it's my prayer that with whatever changes life brings, they may continue to grow closer and stronger together.

Alice + Sasha: Minneapolis Portrait Photography

Being a member of a church means a lot more than just keeping the seats warm; a successful and thriving congregation invests time in their members. This blog is not meant to be a billboard for my church, but rather me saying "hey, I wouldn't have met these two people YOU'RE about to meet if I wasn't a member of this awesome church." And seriously, it really is awesome.

Ever since I saw Alice at church one Sunday about four years ago, I wanted to get to know her (is that weird to say? Ha!). She is an uber successful lawyer, exudes confidence and personality and that shoe collection? Swoon. Girl after my own heart. Fast forward four years and her faith and her family was challenged in a way that words can't even begin to express. My heart went out to her and something inside me prodded me, saying okay, now's the time. So I reached out to her and I asked her if she and her fabulous daughter Sasha would let me capture a minute of their lives. With fingers crossed, I was so happy to be met with a resounding "YES!" Dream. come. true.

We chose the Lake Harriet Rose Garden, which holds special meaning for Alice and Sasha and our little fabulous pink princess had her own ideas of what was to transpire there. I don't think I've ever exercised so much while taking photos before :) She sure gave me a run for my money but it was so worth it. Sasha is a spitfire with a heart of gold. So sweet and kind and really, she loves to laugh and wear pink and a crown (at all times) and most likely, some dress up shoes. She loves collecting rocks and wearing headbands and running. Lots and lots of running. Oh and she likes it best when you chase her!

These images represent the promise of hope, the sunshine after the storm and all of those things - but most importantly, they showcase this amazing, joyous love between a Mama and her Sasha.

I hope they bring you as much smiles and laughter as they have brought to me, Alice + Sasha. They serve as a good reminder that sometimes, your day will get a little bit better if you take the time to twirl. Or wear a crown. Or jump :)

Stuva Family: Minneapolis Portrait Photography

I cannot sing the praises of this family enough! There isn't enough time in the day or adjectives to describe them. But when I try, I come up with things like: love nest, hippie/bohemian/hipster chic, companionship, hands-on parents, peace and contentment, full of life, love and imagination bigger than the circumference of the earth :)

Megan and Ben are the BEST parents and I'm so blessed to witness how they teach Rowan and little Julian to love the world, love God and love people. They exude love, like it's just pouring out of them. How they look at their kids, each other and luckily for me, they look at my camera a lot (and quite well)!

This family enjoys the little things, the things that when we look back at our lives, the things we know we'll cherish. The dressup, the tutus, the bear snacks and the chubby baby boy lovin'. From the first second I laid eyes on Rowan when she was just over a year, I melted into a million pieces on the Patina floor. Watching her grow up into such a lovely little girl ... I am so blessed to have these kids and their parents in my life and to call them friends.
